Luxury tours of Skye, the Highlands and Scotland!
Over the years Stuart has often been asked to collect clients from airports and hotels throughout Scotland to bring them onto the Isle of Skye for their private local tour. Whilst I am always happy to provide a standard transfer, I do recommend turning your transfer to or from Skye in to a multi day tour with some wonderful stops of interest along the way. Here are some ideas to ignite your imagination!
How Multi-Day Tours Work
Accommodation:
We leave you to book your own accommodation as we understand everyone has very different requirements.
Extra Costs:
For multi-day tours each day is charged at our standard daily tour rate. There is an extra cost for any overnight accommodation Stuart will require. There is also an extra cost for Stuart to travel to or from any far off pick-up or drop-off locations. (Scotland is larger than many people appreciate so collections from Edinburgh or Glasgow for example can often require a 4-5 hour drive.)
When you contact Skye Local Tours with your requirements we will always give a full breakdown of the costs involved from the beginning so that there will never be hidden costs.
Luggage Space:
We understand this can be an issue for those travelling to and from Skye. The Jaguar XJ is a large sedan / saloon car and as a general rule we would say it is best suited for up to 2 large suitcases and 3 pieces of hand luggage.
Touring Scotland
Suggestions to and from Skye:
On your way to Skye there are so many interesting places to visit. There are majestic glens surrounded by towering, rugged mountains like Glencoe and Glen Shiel. There are beautiful lochs – not just the famous ones like Loch Ness and Loch Lomond but also some much smaller but far prettier lochs along the way.
Take time to stop at places of interest – perhaps the distillery where your favourite whisky is produced, a castle where your favourite television show was filmed. Or simply drop in on some Highland Cows or enjoy a stunning Highland view you wouldn’t be able to experience when travelling by bus or train. Here are just a few of the places our clients often stop enjoy on their way to or from Skye.
- Scone Palace: The Crowning place of the Scottish kings
- St Andrews: The home of golf
- Culloden battlefield & Clava Cairns standing stones
- A trip to Glenfinnan to see the Jacobite steam train (the ‘Hogwarts Express’)
- Many wonderful whisky distilleries!
- Loch Ness
- Stirling Castle & the William Wallace Monument
Any of these and so much more can be mixed in to a unique tour to make your visit to Scotland a special and unforgettable experience!
Locations to add to your Skye Tour
If you want to extend your visit to Skye there are some amazing places that can be added on with a few extra days of touring. Here is a small sample of places we would recommend:
The Outer Hebrides
If you have an extra couple of days available Stuart can take you on a tour of Lewis and Harris. Experience incredible sandy beaches, historic Highland croft houses, the home of Harris Tweed and the Callanish Standing Stones.
The Scottish Highlands
There are many other parts of the Highlands filled with beauty and history. Visit some of the famous ‘North Coast 500’ route. Enjoy dozens of beautiful lochs, amazing scenic vistas and many opportunities to escape the tourist crowds and see real, rural Highland life.
The Orkney Isles
Orkney is home to the 5000 year old village of Skara Brae, standing stone sights such as the Ring of Brodgar and many other incredible venues like the fascinating ‘Italian Chapel. At the right time of year you can enjoy Orkney’s dramatic cliffs and sea stacks in the presence of the nesting puffins!
